Man found dead after ‘shots fired’ call in Akron

AKRON, Ohio - Akron police and the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office are investigating a homicide after a man was found dead on the city's west side early Wednesday morning.
Police detectives told NewsChannel5 officers received a call for gunshots fired in the 900 block of Dover Avenue at about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.
When officer's arrived at the scene, they discovered 34-year-old Monte Pitts lying in a backyard deceased with multiple gunshot wounds.
Pitts was pronounced dead at 12:17 a.m.
The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy.
