CANTON, Ohio - Troopers with the Canton post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating a fatal accident involving a pedestrian and a vehicle.
Troopers tell NewsChannel5 that James C. Mallet, 63, of Canton was struck by a pick-up truck near the intersection of Tuscarawas Street and Harrison Avenue Northwest around 8:00 p.m. Wednesday.
According to troopers, Mallet was struck by a 2012 Ford F-150 while crossing Tuscarawas Avenue. Mallet had been walking south from the BP gas station at the intersection, en route to his home on Dryden Avenue Southwest.
Paramedics rushed Mallet to Aultman Hospital where he died a short time later from his injuries.
Troopers said Mallet was not walking in a painted cross walk at the time of the accident.
