AKRON, Ohio - An Iowa company, with plans to build a multi-million dollar storage center in Akron, is ready to purchase the property.
Involta LLC of Cedar Rapids plans to buy nearly 18 acres near Sweitzer Avenue just southeast of downtown.
The deal is expected to breathe new life into a neighborhood dotted with older manufacturing buildings, vacant lots and the county jail.
The company would employ about 60 people at the site of the former Brown-Graves Lumber Company. The jobs will pay $60,000 to $70,000 a year.
