AKRON, Ohio - Hundreds of people protested outside FirstEnergy's annual shareholders meeting, chanting "this is what democracy looks like" and "corporate greed has got to go."
One protester, from the Sierra Club and Fight For Fair Economy, contends the utility company puts profits before consumers. They said the company is too dependent on fossil fuels and should pay more taxes.
FirstEnergy spokesman Mark Durbin said the company pays about a $1 billion in taxes every year.
