AKRON, Ohio - A man was able to escape a fire in his home on Preston Avenue in Akron just after 11:30 p.m. Tuesday night.

According to Akron firefighters, the fire started in a second floor bedroom and damaged some of the second floor.

The man was alone in the home, according to firefighters. Neighbors said flames were shooting from the second floor window when fire fighters arrived.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Akron firefighters said weather has been ruled out as a cause.
