CANTON, Ohio - Smoke could be seen for miles after an auto shop in Canton caught fire early Monday morning.
Firefighters were called to Auto Specialties on Cleveland Avenue NW at about 5:59 a.m.
Flames were shooting from the building, and heavy smoke was pouring out of it.
Our crew at the scene reported that there was a huge amount of fire deep inside the building when the fire first started, and firefighters were not going inside.
Firefighters said the roof could collapse, and it did while they were fighting the fire. They said it appears the fire started in the basement.
Crews were able to get the fire under control just before 9 a.m. At least six people were evacuated from their homes as a precaution. They have since been allowed to return.
No one was hurt. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
