AKRON, Ohio - A 14-year-old Garfield High School freshman was taken to the hospital by paramedics Tuesday morning, after drinking a liquid that contained sulfuric acid.

After a teacher questioned the girl why she didn't feel well, the teen admitted to drinking a chemical. A small bottle of rapid fixer, a chemical used to develop photos, was found in the trash outside the main office.

Sarah Hollander, spokeswoman for Akron Public Schools, said EMS and the poison control center were called around 8:15 a.m.

The bottle, which still had some liquid left in it, was given to the paramedics and the student walked out of the building with them.

It remains unclear if the liquid came from the school.
