AKRON, Ohio - Akron firefighters battled a fire in a vacant home where a shooting was reported earlier this week in the 800 block of East Avenue just after midnight Friday.
According to firefighters, the fire started near the basement in rear of the home and spread to all the rooms on the backside of the home.
A large pile of trash was out front of the home suggesting the home had just recently been vacated.
Akron police told NewsChannel5 they responded to the home on April 13 for a man shot, but would not provide any more details about the shooting.
