CANTON, Ohio - Police in Canton have found a 17-year-old boy who was reported missing after he and two others were victims of a carjacking during an apparent gun deal overnight.
The robbery happened at about 2:20 a.m. Friday on Cleveland Avenue NW near the Life Skills Center.
Captain Dave Davis with the Canton Police Department told NewsChannel5 17-year-old Alan Strelecki was pistol-whipped in the head and left at the scene.
The robbers, three men, took off with the other two teens still in the car, and took them to an ATM where the teens were told to withdrawal cash, Davis said.
The robbers then released the teens from the car near Trump and Georgetown, and they ran to a nearby house to call police.
Those two teens were not injured, Davis said, and worked with police to locate their friend.
Just before 10 a.m., Canton police said the teen's family found him wandering around the 600 block of Fulton Road NW.
Strelecki's father, George Strelecki, told NewsChannel5 his son had called someone to report where he was. George was given that information and responded to that area and found his son disoriented with facial bruises and a broken nose.
"He was pretty disoriented. He was beat up pretty good, but it didn't look like anything major or anything," George Strelecki said.
George Strelecki, who lives in Marietta, spent five hours not knowing where his son was. He said he's relieved that he is OK. He doesn't know what happened or why his son was out in the middle of the night.
But one of the carjacking victims, 18-year-old Bradley Gayheart, told NewsChannel5's Bob Jones he made arrangements to buy a gun in a parking lot in Canton.
Gayheart admitted he has a prior record as a juvenile for breaking and entering. He also said the other two teenagers who were with him were aware a gun buy was going to go down, but they were all shocked by the robbery, carjacking and assault that happened.
"They took everything out of our pockets and stole our phones and our shoes," Gayheart said.
The stolen car is a gold four-door 1999 Buick Century with license plate: CCU6432.
