CANTON, Ohio - Canton police are investigating after a man was shot and killed on the city's northeast side Wednesday night.

Police have identified the victim as Jeffrey Stutts Sr., 37, of Canton.

According to police, officers were dispatched to a home on the 1200 block of 17th Street Northeast near Rowland Avenue Northeast for a shooting around 9:45 p.m.

On scene, they located Stutts with a gunshot wound to his head.

Paramedics rushed Stutts to Mercy Medical Center where he was pronounced dead around 10 p.m.

Officers tell NewsChannel5 Stutts' death was not a suicide. Canton police detectives are actively searching for suspects.

Anyone with information on the deadly shooting is asked to call the Canton Police Department at (330) 489-3131.
