CANTON, Ohio - Another Ohio city is looking at installing traffic cameras to catch speeders and drivers running red lights.

The Canton City Council will be asked to again consider a traffic camera plan it has rejected twice before.

The city would not have to pay for the equipment or service. Each violation would cost $120.

The city would receive 66 percent of the money and the contractor Redflex would get the rest.

Councilman Thomas West has sponsored the latest proposal and tells The (Canton) Repository that 80 percent of the camera revenue could be directed to the police department.

The remaining 20 percent could fund neighborhood programs.
