AKRON, Ohio - The mother of convicted murderer Richard Beasley thought he would be found innocent in the craigslist murder case.
"I know a lot of the things that I read in the paper that were testified to were not true," Carol Beasley said as she left the Summit County Courthouse Tuesday night. "Witnesses did not always tell the truth. But the jury heard the evidence and the decision was in their hands."
Richard Beasley was found guilty on all counts in the murders of three men and the wounding of another who were lured by phony job ads on craigslist. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.
Carol Beasley said her son has always maintained his innocence.
"I know those other families have suffered so much pain and now I think I feel what they have gone through," she said.
