AKRON, Ohio - Akron Zoo’s giant Pacific octopus has died.
Cora, who chose her own name from a jar of three wiffleballs with names submitted by the public on them, was on exhibit since May 2012.
Her exact age was unknown but the zoo said she arrived as an adult. The typical life span of a giant Pacific octopus is about three years.
A necropsy said the cause of death appears to be age related.
