AKRON, Ohio - The Ohio Department of Natural Resources presented the city of Akron with a grant on Friday morning to be used for scenic trail improvements.

The city received a check for $173,186 from the Clean Ohio Trails Fund to be used to help foster recreation in the community.

According to ODNR, the funds will be used to acquire 2.9 acres of property and construct a trail linking the Towpath Trail at the Beech Street Trail Head to the historic Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad Northside Train Station.

Both entities hope that these improvements will help provide valuable recreational outlets for residents and visitors.
