AKRON, Ohio - A Hartville man is facing aggravated vehicular assault charges after police said he caused a serious injury crash while texting and driving.
Peter Hooley, 31, was arraigned in Akron Municipal Court on Thursday, charged with two counts of aggravated vehicular assault.
Akron police said Hooley was texting while driving westbound on Waterloo Road when he rear-ended another driver earlier this week.
Authorities said Hooley hit the other driver while traveling over 50 mph. The impact of the wreck left a teen with a serious head injury and another victim with a fractured skull.
