AKRON, Ohio - An Akron man found an unwelcome surprise while raking leaves at his home.
Michael Kavali reported to police he found a machete, which was covered in dirt and rust and appeared to have been exposed to the elements for an extended period of time, in his yard on Oct. 25.
The officer at the scene said the machete was found near the phone box and a window but no signs were noticed pointing to the tool being used as a prying instrument.
Bath police said the phone box was undisturbed and the window above it had a small strip of molding pulled away and slight scratches in the wood due to rotting.
There was no forced entry, according to police. However, due to the suspicious nature of the incident, extra patrol was requested.
