AKRON, Ohio - A 21-year-old has been charged with murder after a shooting death in Akron Thursday evening.
Police are investigating the homicide of 24-year-old Derek Edwards, of Akron.
They said Edwards was walking near the intersection of Clifford Avenue and Hammel Street at about 9:50 p.m. when he was shot and killed on the 700 block of Clifford by Larrence Clay, 21, of Akron.
Clay was charged with aggravated murder.
Edwards was taken to Akron City Hospital where died from his injuries at 10:46 p.m.
An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.
