COLUMBUS, Ohio - A search warrant executed after a rampage in Copley Township left eight people dead hints that the alleged shooter may have had financial problems.
Authorities said Michael Hance, 51, of Akron, died in a gunfight with police Sunday after he killed seven people in a quiet neighborhood in Copley Township.
An inventory from the warrant approved Sunday said a letter to Hance about debt renegotiation and another referring to a debt settlement were found in his Akron home.
The inventory also lists a motion to dismiss an action for collection of funds.
Police haven't provided a motive, but neighbors have spoken of a dispute over a Copley home where Hance stayed with his girlfriend, Rebecca Dieter, who was shot but survived.
The search warrant's contents were first reported by the Akron Beacon Journal.
