AKRON, Ohio - Akron firefighters were able to put out a fire inside a very large commercial building on Carroll Street just east of Route 8 Thursday.
According to firefighters, the fire was in a wooden floor inside the nearly 400-foot long building.
Akron police officers first noticed the fire just before 6:30.
Firefighters said that the fire was only smoldering and making a lot of smoke, but could’ve been much worse given the size of the building.
Firefighters said the building has been vacant for a long time but also said it was full of industrial equipment.
The fire was under control around 7 a.m.
Carroll Street was closed to eastbound traffic.
No information about what might have caused the fire. No injuries were reported.
