AKRON, Ohio - Three separate crimes in Akron over the last 24 hours left two people hospitalized, three under arrest and one on the run.
Here’s a breakdown of each incident from the Akron police:
Aggravated burglary/robbery
Akron police said two men forced their way into a 48-year-old woman’s home on Andrew Street around 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The woman told police that she heard a knock at her front door and asked who was there. The man said, “T.”
As she started to open up the door, the two men barged in, pushed the woman into a chair and demanded money from her, police said. She gave them $50 and they allegedly threatened her if she called police.
Officers later arrested 22-year-old Thomas Glover IV and 23-year-old Romir Cody at their home on Fess Avenue in connection with the incident. Both were charged with aggravated burglary and robbery.
Attempted aggravated murder/felonious assault
A woman was taken to the hospital after police said she was apparently stabbed by a man after an argument.
The incident happened just before 7 p.m. Tuesday at a home on Lindsay Avenue.
Akron police said they found blood on the kitchen floor and the couple sitting on the living room couch when they arrived at the scene. The man was holding the woman’s arms and she was bleeding from her face and body, according to officers.
Police said they ordered the suspect, 41-year-old Allen Maull, to let go of her, but he refused and told officers to shoot him. That’s when police shocked him with a Taser gun and placed him under arrest.
Maull was charged with attempted aggravated murder and felonious assault. There is no word on the woman’s condition.
Felonious assault
A man is recovering after he was shot in the leg late Tuesday night on Frederick Boulevard.
Akron police said 35-year-old Alfred Sanders told them he was shot by a man he didn’t know.
Sanders was taken to the hospital, where officers said his injuries do not appear to be life threatening.
Police are still looking for the shooter, who is described as a man 27 to 35 years old, 160 pounds, 6-feet tall and wearing a white t-shirt.
