AKRON, Ohio - Mug Ale was the flagship beer of the Burkhardt Brewing Company. It was last brewed in Akron more than 50 years ago, and it's now making a return.

The Thirsty Dog Brewing company has done its best the revive the old favorite. John Najeway, one of the owners of Thirsty Dog, said they have been working on the recipe for about a year now. It is a light blonde ale with little-to-no hop bitterness.

Mug Ale can be bought at the Brewery, at 529 Grant Street in Akron, in half gallon jugs.

Nejeway said starting October 2, their new tasting room will open and offer Mug Ale by the glass. You will also be able to try the other varieties made by Thristy Dog.

It will also be sold at Canal Park during Akron Aeros baseball games next season.
