AKRON, Ohio - The Akron Aeros announced their plans to add a new 26-foot x 68-foot HD video board to Canal Park for the start of the 2013 baseball season. Opening day is just 72 days away.

The new video board will be the largest in Double-A baseball. Owner Ken Babby said the video board will add to the fan experience. With five new HD cameras, Babby said they will use the board for replays, in-game contests and other fan interactions.

Babby said he also has non-baseball plans for the new board.

"Forget baseball for a second, which is hard for all of us to do, to pull your blanket out there on a July night and sit in right field with your family and watch a movie. Which is what we hope to do this summer."

The project will also include a HD LED ribbon board in left field. The entire project is privately funded and will cost $1.68 million.
