AKRON, Ohio - The driver of a fatal accident involving an ambulance in Akron went in front of Judge Jerry Larson Friday afternoon.
Cherica Jones, 20, pleaded not guilty in the death of Collins Green, 57. Green was the backseat passenger in a car Jones was driving back in early April.
The traffic light was out at the intersection of Wabash Avenue and West Cedar Street in front of Akron General Medical Center due to a power outage. Police said Jones drove through the light and hit an ambulance.
The driver of the ambulance, an EMT and the patient were not seriously injured in the crash.
Jones was charged with vehicular homicide, vehicular manslaughter and malfunctioning traffic light for Green’s death.
