AKRON, Ohio - Wayne Roosevelt Jones was arrested for the fireworks explosion that left a 34-year-old in the hospital.
Lt. Rick Edwards said Jones, 65, of Akron, was charged with manufacturing explosives, unlawful possession of dangerous ordnance, illegal assembly of chemicals/explosives and possession of criminal tools.
According to police, Jones gave officers on the scene consent to search his home, where they found explosive materials, scales, funnels, fuses, nitrites and powder.
There was still debris in a driveway in the 300 block of Grand Avenue from the truck that was damaged in the explosion.
Several homes in the area had blown out windows. One neighbor said it sounded like a bomb went off.
The victim has injuries to his upper body, police said.
