AKRON, Ohio - A 19-year-old from Akron will spend the next nine years in prison for robbing three juveniles in a church parking lot.
Cordell Benson, 19, was sentenced Wednesday in Summit County Common Pleas Court.
On Jan. 20, Benson and two friends stopped three juveniles as they were walking through a church parking lot. Benson pointed a gun at the trio while Benson's friends stole their money and cellphones.
Footprints in the snow is how Akron police officers tracked down Benson. The stolen items and a loaded gun were found inside the home.
Benson pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery in May.
It's unclear what the punishment was for Benson's two accomplices.
