CLEVELAND - Warm up your growl and get ready to be a buccaneer as September 19 is 'Talk Like A Pirate Day."

From saying 'Ahoy' excessively to sending your enemies to the yardarms, there are simple ways to join in the fun.

WikiHow gives 11 tips to help get you started, they also offer a glossary of pirate terms and strongly suggest never using 'Arrgggg', as they say it's stereotypical (like our headline). Growling, scowling is tipĀ  number one. Along the way they admonish you to never use 'you' or 'you're'. The site offers this example, "Here's yer dinner, ya mangy cockroach."

The official 'Talk Like A Pirate Day' website , yes there's an official website, credits humorist Dave Barry with mentioning the site 8 years ago and igniting the craze.

The day gives me a chance to ask if you know what a pirate pays for corn?

A buck an ear.

I'll walk the plank for that one.
