CLEVELAND - They’re walking to fight breast cancer. Friday morning, the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure kicked off in Cleveland.
Walkers will cover 60 miles along the shores of Lake Erie between Friday, July 30, and Sunday, August 1.
The event began at 6:30 a.m. on Friday with an opening ceremony at the Port of Cleveland. That marked the start of the journey for nearly 1000 walkers participating in this year's event.
They will travel along the shores of Lake Erie before arriving in Berea on Sunday afternoon. The closing ceremonies are scheduled for 4:30 p.m. at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds.
If you want to show support for the walkers, cheering stations are set up along the route. Click here to find one near you .
