CLEVELAND - The death of a Cleveland mother shocked those who knew her and their community, and now they will gather to remember her.
Several domestic violence and local activist groups are hosting a rally and candlelight vigil for 42-year-old Tonya Hunter-Lyons, at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, near her home at East 175th Street and Walden Avenue.
Police found the body of Hunter-Lyons in the garage of her Walden Avenue home in Cleveland early Monday morning.
Police believe her four-year-old son may have witnessed the crime. A car dropped him off at East 28th and Cedar Avenue around 10:00 p.m. Sunday.
On Monday, police arrested her husband, 38-year-old Maurice Lyons. He remains in custody, but charges have not been filed against him.
Hunter-Lyons was the founder of the Bedford Heights marriage and family counseling service, Success 1. She counseled troubled marriages and families.
Tonya Hunter-Lyons was reportedly in an abusive relationship with Maurice Lyons, and planned to file for divorce Monday.
