FAIRPORT HARBOR, Ohio - The gas lines have been fixed in Fairport Harbor. Last week, a pressure malfunction in the gas lines caused explosions and multiple house fires.
"It was just crazy to see something so close to home", said Chris Trent, of Mentor. Trent donated bags of clothes to the nearly two dozen people who lost everything in the natural gas fires.
"You know, if it's just going to sit around our house," Trent said. "Give it to people who need it more than us."
Hundreds of donations have already been collected and stored in the auditorium at Fairport Harding High School.
"I didn't know that there were that many people in Fairport," teacher Brandon Lauer said. "People from all kinds of communities have been coming in and dropping off stuff."
You can drop off donations at the high school or make a monetary donation toward the "Fairport Fire Victims Fund" at any First Merit Bank branch
