CLEVELAND - With the flu spreading quickly across Ohio and the rest of the country, the CDC has listed six things you should not touch to avoid getting sick.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has identified six everyday items that you may want to consider trying to avoid. It's mainly because flu germs are spread from person to person through coughing, sneezing, or even talking with someone who has the bug.
Germs can also spread if you touch something with the flu virus on it.
Researchers say the following surfaces are most common for the influenza virus to live on.
- Refrigerator handles
- Phones (yes, including your cellphone/smartphone you carry around everywhere)
- TV remotes
- Microwave ovens and other kitchen surfaces
- Door handles and light switches
- Grocery carts
Make sure you regularly clean those surfaces at your home and/or office to avoid contracting the virus.
