CLEVELAND - There is some surprising news for overweight or obese people with type two diabetes.
A study published in the Journal of American Medical Association said obese people appear to live longer than normal body weight people when their disease was detected.
This is due to a higher body mass index or BMI.
People who have normal BMIs are twice as likely to die, according to the report.
Experts said normal weight people may be at a higher risk if their fitness status isn't good.
However, doctors are encouraging obese people to not abandon their weight loss efforts.
