STRONGSVILLE, Ohio - A Strongsville teacher was arrested outside of a school while picketing for the teachers’ strike.
Strongsville police said 36-year-old Ian Steffen of Medina “continued to attempt to impede traffic in the area of Center Middle School after receiving repeated audible direction from a uniformed officer to clear the driveway.”
The incident happened at about 5:35 a.m. Wednesday. The police report said Steffan, who officers spotted at the school for the past two days, had been warned three times about blocking the entrance just Wednesday morning.
Steffen was charged with one count of disorderly conduct.
According to Center Middle School’s website, Steffen is a science teacher at the school.
Police said the case has been referred to the Berea Municipal Court.
Teachers in Strongsville went on strike Monday after no agreement was reached with the teachers’ union and the school district.
