CLEVELAND - An unloaded weapon was found when a student entered East Tech High School Thursday morning.
Cleveland Metropolitan School District spokeswoman Roseann Canfora said students and backpacks pass through metal detectors at the district’s schools.
“During a routine search, a bookbag beeped in the metal detector, the bag was searched and an unloaded weapon was found,” the district said in a statement.
The weapon never made it into the high school on East 55th Street and the student was referred to Cleveland police.
