CLEVELAND - CEO of Cleveland Schools Eric Gordon will host the State of Schools Address at Cleveland City Club Thursday at noon.
The address comes a day after news the district will likely receive an "F" grade on the state report card for the 2011-2012 academic year.
Gordon said Wednesday, "We have to make a firm decision about if we're going to be satisfied with mediocre performance year by year."
"We have a lot of opportunity ahead of us. We have incredible legislation that only Cleveland has in this country. We have an issue in front of our voters that allows them to support and resource the plans to improve our schools," Gordon told NewsChannel5.
Gordon is expected to hammer his point that the poor academic showing is another reminder why taxpayers need to pass the upcoming 15 mill levy in November. That way, the district can fund its transformation plan signed into law by Governor Kasich in July.
The plan promises a number of changes including a reform of work rules and it would allow the district to lengthen the school day and the school year.
