CHARDON, Ohio - The Chardon School Board has picked a new superintendent for the district.
Dr. Michael Hanlon, who is currently the superintendent of the Painesville City Schools, will begin working as the superintendent of Chardon Schools on August 1, 2013.
Current Chardon superintendent Joseph Bergant announced last year that he would resign at the end of this school year, and the board has been searching for his replacement for the last few months.
In a press release on the Chardon Schools website, school board president Karen Blakenship says she is pleased with the board’s decision, and calls Hanlon a proven leader.
Hanlon has been the superintendent in Painesville for 15 years, and before that was a teacher and principal in Mentor.
