BEREA, Ohio - Lourdes University President Robert Helmer has been named president at another Ohio college, Baldwin-Wallace, effective July 1.
Baldwin-Wallace, in Berea in northeast Ohio, announced the appointment Monday. Helmer succeeds Richard Durst who retires June 30.
Helmer was named president of Lourdes University in Sylvania in 2003. He has also served as vice president for academic affairs and a faculty member. He holds the faculty rank of professor in Lourdes' history department.
He also has been teaching fellow and research assistant at Marquette University in Milwaukee and held adjunct teaching positions at Indiana University and Ancilla College in Indiana.
Helmer is a graduate of Notre Dame in Indiana and The Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium. He holds a doctorate from Marquette and a law degree from the University of Toledo.
