CLEVELAND - The Academic Challenge Championship Finale will air on WEWS-TV Saturday night at 7:30 featuring teams from Beachwood, Firestone and Hawken.
After 26 weeks, 78 teams and more than 2000 questions, our 44th season concludes with our top three scoring teams from our regular season.
Beachwood appeared on our 15th show and scored 770 points. During their match, they answered every question correctly. It's the third time Beachwood has made our top 10 and the first time in the championship.
Beachwood's team competing in the championship is: Captain Scott Remer, James Starkman and Lizzie Bream. Beachwood's adviser is John Kaminski.
Firestone appeared on our second show and scored 735 points. It's the second time Firestone has made the top 10 and the first time in the finale.
Firestone's team competing in the championship is: Captain Bijan Pakdel, Sterling Shriber II and Katie Gilbert. Firestone's adviser is Alison Seefeldt.
Hawken appeared our sixth show and scored 800 points. The 800 points were second most in the show's history. It's the second time Hawken has made our championship and Hawken won the championship in the 2007-2008 season.
Hawken's team competing in the championship is: Captain Eric Xiao, Jonathan Meckler and Adil Menon. Hawken's adviser is Stan Perry.
The Academic Challenge Championship Finale airs Saturday night, June 9, on WEWS-TV at 7:30pm. Academic Challenge is sponsored by Westfield Insurance and is hosted by Meteorologist Jason Nicholas.
