CLEVELAND - The October execution of convicted serial killer Anthony Sowell has been delayed because of a pending appeal in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court.
It's a decision that isn't uncommon, as people on death row usually spend years behind bars until all appeals are reviewed.
Every death row inmate gets an automatic appeal, no matter how heinous the crime.
Sowell's Oct. 29 execution has not been rescheduled.
In July, jurors found Sowell guilty of 11 aggravated murder charges and sentenced him to death. The 51-year-old killed the women between June 2007 and September 2009 and dumped their remains in and around his Imperial Avenue home.
The "house of horrors" has since been torn down.
