CLEVELAND - Even the rain wasn't going to stop these kids from getting out on the soccer field Saturday for the annual Cleveland Schools Jamboree Soccer Tournament.

But it wasn’t your normal game, there was much more to it.

Cleveland School Principal Valerie Flowers says this is a life experience, with help from the America Scores Organization.

Principal Flowers says from poetry to community service, this program is a real kick for all the Cleveland students that participate!

"It's a wonderful activity, and now with the district's new transformation plan it also teaches our kids to meet some of the other students who's schools they will blend with next year and they are already becoming friends with each other instead of competitors,” Flowers said.

Imari White has been playing soccer for 3 years and she says it helps her and her teammates to communicate better, especially on the field.

Some students were playing for their very first time at the jamboree.

Andrea Abrams says she didn’t know how to play at frist, but her team and coach taught her ans supported her through the whole process.

That same support was going on as Andrea and her classmates did their service project for people half way across the world. The children donated flip flops to Haiti.
