DETROIT - The ACLU of Michigan has filed a lawsuit against federal authorities, Detroit Metro Airport and Frontier Airlines on behalf of an Ohio woman who says she was removed from an airplane in handcuffs, strip searched and held for four hours even though she had done nothing wrong.

The incident happened on the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.

NewsChannel5 sister station WXYZ first reported on Shoshana Hebshi's story when she wrote about it on her blog, three days after the incident. She was one of three people removed from the flight from Denver to Detroit.

Security teams took the three into custody after someone reported suspicious activity. At the time, witnesses said that they saw the two men seated in the same row with Hebshi taking multiple trips to the bathroom.

FBI investigators determined one of the men seated with Hebshi was ill, which is why he was going back and forth to the lavatory. Hebshi and men did not know each other.

At the time of the incident F-16 fighter jets were order to follow the flight and it was diverted to a secure location at Metro Airport. Police boarded the plane with guns drawn.

After Hebshi and the two men were taken off the plane, the rest of the 113 passengers were also taken off and questioned and the plane was swept by security.
