JonBenet: Governor Says No To Special Prosecutor

<IMG SRC="/Images/Screengrabs/jonbonet2.jpg" ALIGN="LEFT" WIDTH="190" HEIGHT="240" BORDER="0" ALT="Jonbenet Ramsey">Colorado state's governor announced Wednesday he would not appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the 1996 murder of JonBenet Ramsey.<P> <P /> NewsChannel5 reports Gov. Bill Owens says he's now confident the current investigation will succeed in spite of its initial missteps.<P> <P /> But then the governor went further, seeming to implicate, if not by name, two of the key figures in the case.<P> <P /> It was the strongest language used by any public official about the parents of JonBenet.<P> <P /> "If I could speak to John and Patsy Ramsey, I'd tell them to quit hiding behind their attorneys, quit hiding behind their firm, come back to Colorado and work with us to find the killers in this case, no matter where that trail may lead," Owens said.<P> <P /> The Ramseys have long been considered suspects in the case. And in everything the governor did and did not say, he seemed to point an accusing finger at them.
