A Painesville judge who is known for his unique sentences was back at it again Saturday.
The latest sentence involves a teenager, a blindfold and a porn shop.
"Some good sentences. This is the best one yet. It draws a lot of attention," said Painesville resident Scott West.
This latest attention-grabber: a blindfolded teen sitting out his sentence with a sign reading "See no evil."
"I'm thankful that Judge Cicconetti gave me an opportunity instead of jail time," said Jeremy Sherwood.
Sherwood, 18, sat quietly across the street from the adult video store where he was caught stealing porn.
"He's humiliated now. He's done this to people before and it worked," said resident Melanie Parker.
According to NewsChannel5, Sherwood had two choices: either go to jail for 30 days and miss his high school graduation or camp out with his sign.
"Yes, there's humiliation. Yes, there's embarrassment. Question is, do you learn by that and has it helped? And so far, so good. It has helped," said Painesville Municipal Judge Michael Cicconetti.
His creative alternatives to the slammer never fail to amuse residents.
"He does tons of different things to people that are funny," said Jonathan Lindner.
His unusual style seems to be working. In fact, the judge says of the hundreds of sentences he's given out, he's only had two repeat offenders.
"Can't stone 'em anymore. If they learn from it, that's what justice is all about," Cicconetti said.
His other unique sentences include a pigpen for one man's mistake -- calling cops pigs. Then there was the stroll through town with a donkey for stealing the baby Jesus from a nativity. And a published apology from the couple busted for getting busy on the beach.
