WASHINGTON - Thousands of strollers were recalled on Friday after reports of injuries to children.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Bumbleride Indie and Indie Twin strollers, saying that consumers should stop using the products immediately.

The strollers were recalled because the front wheel can crack, causing the stroller to tip.

There have been more than 30 reports of the front wheel cracking, including two reports of the stroller tipping over resulting in minor injuries.

Bumbleride has also removed a multi-use bar from all new strollers.

A consumer alert warned that the adjustable bumper bar could be a strangulation risk when set in the car seat position while a child was seated in the stroller.

The recalled strollers were sold at Buy Buy Baby and other baby product stores in the U.S. and Canada between January 2009 and January 2012.

Bumbleride CEO Matthew Reichardtsaid Friday night that the company had removed all affected models from stores.

Consumers should contact Bumbleride to receive a free front wheel retrofit kit.
