Does It Really Do That? EZ Cracker put to the test

CLEVELAND - Tired of dropping egg shells into your cooking creation? The EZ Cracker claims to crack eggs, separate egg whites, and strip shells from hard boiled eggs in seconds. But is it all it's cracked up to be?

There's lots of egg cracking in Donna Hurst's kitchen. She loves to cook and bake. We asked Hurst to take a crack at the EZ Cracker.

"I think it looks like a contraption," Hurst said. It looks odd, but the gadget is easy to figure out. Hurst squeezed the contraption and the egg separated without a shell falling into the bowl.

"I thought it would be more messy," Hurst said.

So, how about separating the egg and the yolk?

"There are a lot of recipes these days where you need to separate the yolk from the egg white and that can be a problem," Hurst said.

Problem solved. With a simple attachment, the EZ Cracker does all the work for you.

So, Does It Really Do That? It worked for Hurst, but she's afraid she may not use it too often.

"How many things can you store in your cupboards?" she asked.

Cracking an egg is just not that difficult for Hurst to invest almost $10 in the cracker. It just might be the gift for you, though, if you have trouble cracking eggs or peeling hard boiled eggs.
