DALLAS, Texas - FareCompare , an airline ticket comparison site, is helping consumers figure out which days are cheapest to fly this holiday season. The website breaks down the $10-30 holiday surcharge by day, and tells you which days to fly to avoid the surcharge.
Christmas is not until December 25, but starting December 17, FareCompare said you’ll start paying a surcharge. It starts at $10 and increases to $30 on December 23.
Get alerted to deals
To save money, it's also a good idea to set up an airfare alert on a route you want to travel.
Then, you'll be alerted when the price hits a certain point that you're willing to spend. Many travel sites and search engines offer this option.
That’s a good idea no matter what time of year you’re flying. Why pay more for something you can get cheaper?
