CLEVELAND - Heading out of town this holiday weekend? If you're headed to the airport, make sure you arrive early. Flights are fuller with so many mergers plus airlines have cut back on flights. If you don't check in early enough, you could involuntarily get bumped from an oversold flight. You may get compensated for double the price of your ticket or up to $650 for a short delay, and up to four times the value of your ticket or $1,300 for a longer delay.

Sometimes, the airlines ask for volunteers. Joe the Coupon Guy likes to volunteer, but he waits out the volunteer process. Don't jump up at the first offer which is usually around $200. Wait until the airline sweetens the pot to $3-400. Joe says he's gotten the $400 reward for voluntarily taking a later flight.

If you're staying closer to home this holiday season, you can save on shopping for clothes or food. Hot dogs are a big hit this weekend. Joe says Marc's is selling them for 88-cents, so if they are big in your household you might want to stock up.

It's not just the basics of a holiday party that are on sale. Think about stocking up on the less popular but still important condiments. They last a long time and are always on sale around the Fourth of July. You can also try stocking up on paper plates, napkins or other items that are can be used at a holiday party or year round.

If you want to shop, there are lots of stores having sales. Look online for coupons. Check the company's Twitter feed or Facebook page for special deals. Do your research before you hit the store.

Have a great Fourth of July!
