CLEVELAND - The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas in Cleveland is $3.64. And although The Automobile Association of America says the national average for gas fell for the past month and a half, gas prices are on the mind of people looking for new cars.

A new survey by Consumer Reports shows people are driving less and looking for a more fuel-efficient vehicle.

When shopping for a new car, 37 percent of those polled said fuel economy will be their most important consideration. The majority of those polled said they'll consider changing what they drive.

"We can see car owners are open to ways of saving at the pump, from downsizing to getting an alternative fuel vehicle," said Rik Paul from Consumer Reports.

People are looking at these alternative vehicles not just because of fuel efficiency. 62 percent of the people surveyed also listed the environment as a reason.
