CINCINNATI - Companies have made millions of dollars selling adult toys to customers who liked being discreet.

It appears the veil of secrecy has been lifted.

You can find items like female massagers where you shop everyday such as Walgreens, CVS Pharmacy and even the grocery store Kroger.

A quick search at local stores turned up several adult toys.

A CVS Pharmacy near Cincinnati had female massagers for sale.

Some University of Cincinnati Students said they didn't know stores like CVS, Walmart and Kroger were selling those kinds of products.

"I think it would definitely be weird to see it like in a CVS or Walmart compared to a Pure Romance store, which is meant for that," said UC student Kaela O'Brien.

Another student agreed with O'Brien

"I think it's too weird to be in a Walmart setting because that's like a family shopping center. You don't want your kids to see that and ask what it is. That's awkward," said Katie Nesbitt.

It's apparently not that awkward for some customers.

Kroger says these toys are sold inside 40 percent of its Cincinnati stores.

The products are made to blend in with other packaging in the family planning aisle, so customers may not feel embarrassed to toss them into the shopping cart.

Some of the lower priced items were sold out online at Walmart and CVS.

As you can imagine, it was difficult finding anyone to talk about the toys without getting a lot of giggles.

O'Brien believes people will eventually get used to seeing them.

"I think people will get used to seeing them there if they were put on the store shelves," O'Brien said.

Kroger said it has been selling the massagers in several Cincinnati stores since January.

The company said the products have been popular with customers.
