CLEVELAND, Ohio - Home owners are always looking for ways to spruce up their homes without breaking the bank, especially in a struggling real estate market.

A recent Angie's List poll showed more than 50 percent of respondents are planning home improvements this year. According to experts, the two of the cheapest and simplest ways to spruce up your home is to paint or replace lighting.

"Your paint takes a beating through the years," said Angie Hicks. "A lot of people who are looking to freshen up their house, they'll decide to paint."

Moving furniture and removing paintings yourself can also help cut the cost in half.
