Cleveland State pitches in for 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition'

CLEVELAND - UNO Bar and Grill was the place to be for Cleveland State students and alumni to watch "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" Sunday night.

Alumni and students who chipped in to help the Anderson family of Maple Heights took time out of their schedule to get together and relive the experiences of helping a family in need.

Doris Chandler of Cleveland was all smiles as she watched NewsChannel5's half hour special before the big show. Chandler was only allowed to work one day, but would have loved to have been there from start to finish.

Chandler's job for the day was to peel all the labels off the water bottles. The show was not allowed to have any advertising. She said it was a long, tedious task but loved doing it. Everyone doing their small part helped.

That also goes for Darius Houston. He is a Cleveland State cheerleader. The squad was out there to cheer on the president of CSU, who awarded three scholarships to the Anderson family.

The project was a great way for the community to help out and let the Anderson family make this holiday season special.

Another individual who offered to help the Anderson family is veterinarian Evan Morse, who offered free vet services to the family's seeing eye dog for one year.
